Here are some common issues that may impact your ability to bridge your Layer 1 token (USDC or ETH) to Base.
Insufficient funds:
- Ensure your wallet has enough ETH to cover both the amount you’re bridging and gas fees.
- For bridging USDC, you’ll need sufficient USDC plus Layer 1 ETH for gas fees.
- If gas fees are high, use a gas tracker to find off-peak times for lower costs.
Network mismatch:
- You must use a Base-compatible wallet like Uniswap, Coinbase or Metamask.
- Ensure your Base-compatible wallet is connected to the Base network.
Long transaction times:
- Bridging transactions, especially large ones, may take longer than expected due to network congestion or delays in Layer 2 confirmation.
Bridging limitations or restrictions:
- Check the bridge’s status and restrictions before initiating a transfer.
- Divide large transactions into smaller amounts if needed.
If you’re still having issues, please visit your bridging application’s help center or request support from Rails on Discord.
